“This was more than a yoga retreat, it was a time to rest and reconnect. This was my first yoga retreat and it was better than I expected. I left feeling like I had made new friends, done lots of restorative yoga and meditation, eaten delicious, nourishing food, while having plenty of down time to rest or explore the beautiful village of Hambledon. I enjoyed getting creative with collaging and having a laugh with everyone. I loved my little yurt in the woods. The farm is beautiful and George is inspiring with his organic farming methods. A truly wonderful experience, thank you Landa!” Megan
After a magical first retreat at Rushmere Farm, we’re thrilled to return in 2025 to welcome the summer with a rejuvenating programme of yoga, meditation, nourishing food, nature walks, and collage-making. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the South Downs National Park, the retreat promises to be an absolute treat for the nervous system.
The Location
“Just being in the countryside, with open sky, grass and flowers under foot, eases you open for breathing, being and finding the space for stillness.” Anonymous
Established in 1954, Rushmere Farm (RF) sits atop the village of Hambledon—home to England’s oldest commercial vineyard and known as the ‘cradle of cricket.’ Nestled in the South Downs National Park, the farm is dedicated to organic farming while preserving a home for wildlife. Certified organic in 2023, RF grows nutrient-dense food with a carbon-negative footprint.
Surrounded by woods and rolling fields, the farm offers a variety of walking trails and accommodation options. Whether you choose to stay in the woodland yurt, the shepherd’s hut or one of the three cottages, you are guaranteed a peaceful stay infused by nature and tranquility. For further information on things do in the area please visit this link. There will be an opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the farm with farmer George Crossley who will share insights about sustainable farming methods. The farm’s freshly produced oat milk, TOATS, will be on offer during the retreat.
The Yoga
“Landa's yoga practice combines meditative reflection with carefully choreographed stretches and yoga poses. The experience leaves you feeling uplifted, nurtured, relaxed in mind and body, and at peace with the world. Calm, concise, well-paced instruction ensures the practice is kind, restorative and body aware. A real privilege however old or young you are!” David
A firm believer in the transformative power of retreats, I’m committed to creating safe, nurturing spaces where guests can truly come home to themselves.
Core to my teaching is guiding others to access the body, brain, heart and breath connection through the experience of ‘yoga’, union in Sanskrit. I have been practising yoga for over twenty years and teaching since 2021 when I graduated from the Vajrasati School of Yoga (Yoga Alliance 500+ hours). Vajrasati yoga is a heart-centered, restorative practice which blends movement, breathwork and meditation to immerse us in the richness of the now. It involves a natural process of listening and responding to what our body needs in each posture, allowing time and space for magical physical and mental releases to take place with the aid of our all-important breath.
Classes are inclusive and tailored to all levels, integrating new students while offering fresh perspectives to experienced practitioners. My teaching style is calming with instructions guided towards an experience rather than a goal. We use props (blocks, blankets, belts) to adapt postures, making them safe and accessible while aiding release. During the retreat you will enjoy four yoga classes and three meditation sessions, including a yoga nidra practice. More about the benefits of Vajrasati yoga here.
The Food
“Landa's retreat is one of the best I've experienced for making you slow down, reflect and recharge. Heartily recommend and I wouldn't hesitate to go on another. The hospitality and attention to detail made the experience even more enjoyable. The incredible food was an added bonus.” Max
The talented Emma Gilchrist will be providing the food for our retreat again this year. Her love of food started as a young girl when she would help her granny cook lunch for 15 people every Sunday. Her supper clubs, hosted in Hambledon village, are very popular and she enjoys cooking cuisines from all over the world.
The food this year will feature a mixture of family-style sharing dishes and some elegant fine dining elements. Expect a varied, hearty, well-balanced menu including homemade granola, beautiful salads, non-alcoholic cocktails and juices, healthy snacks and delicious desserts with influences from different corners of the world.
Collage-making
“The object isn’t to make art, it’s to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable.” Robert Henri
Rooted in the belief that we are all creative beings, and that creativity is not a rare ability, my collage workshops are designed to awaken the artist within, taking guests on a journey of self-expression, spontaneity and play. No previous experience is required. We will experiment with different techniques and materials, bringing elements of mindfulness and healing to our practice. Everything you need will be supplied during the workshop which will take place in the woods. A totally immersive experience.
